Business Management
The ABE Business Management program provides a professional qualification which may be used to prepare directly for a career in business, to gain advanced entry to study for further professional qualifications or to obtain useful exemptions on a range of university business courses in the UK and elsewhere. The syllabuses are regularly updated to ensure that they continue to reflect the evolving needs of contemporary business and the rapidly changing conditions within which such business operates. Such regular review ensures that ABE graduates receive a relevant and up-to-date qualification as a foundation on which to build a successful career in their chosen specialization. The nature of the programme is to provide students with not only an appreciation of the theoretical issues involved in the study of business, but with a range of practical skills which will enhance their value to potential employers. The early stages of the programme provide students with the academic subjects which underpin the remainder of the course. These subjects are then developed in an increasingly applied way as the programme proceeds, covering the major functional specialists of business and culminating in a range of ‘overview’ subjects which provide broad strategic and international perspectives on business and management issues. Major themes running throughout the course include HRM, Finance and Accounting, Marketing and IT. These subjects are developed at each successive stage of the programme. This offers students the opportunity to specialize in one or more of these major disciplines and to select those options which reflect the student’s particular interests or career plans. The Business Management program is divided into Certificate, Diploma Part 1 and 2 and the Advanced Diploma.

Part 1
The four compulsory papers are:

Organizational Behavior
Financial Accounting
Economic Principles and their Application to Business
Quantitative Methods for Business and Management

Part 2
The three compulsory papers are:

Human Resource Management
Marketing Policy , Planning and Communication
Management in Action

Students must also pass two of the following options:

Systems Analysis and Design
Managerial Accounting
Principles of Business Law
  • Diploma Part 1 and 2 papers are set and marked to the level of the first year of a UK Business Studies degree program
  • Upon completion of Diploma Part 1, the successful student will be sent a scroll.
  • It is recommended that students sit the Diploma Part 1 examinations before attempting any subject in Diploma Part 2.
  • Exemptions from Diploma subjects (up to a maximum of six subjects) may be granted to holders of qualifications of certain other professional bodies, provided that such qualifications have been obtained by external examination.
  • The Method of Assessment for all ABE subjects is by written examination. The three-hour written examinations are held twice a year (usually the first week in June and December).
Candidates will be notified individually of their results normally about two months after the examinations.

Entry Requirements for Diploma:
Applicants must have obtained one of the following:
  • ABE Certificate
  • Two "A" Level passes plus four GCSE passes at Grade A, B or C, two of which must be English and Maths
  • Overseas qualifications which may be accepted by the Registrar as being equivalent to the above
  • ABE also welcomes applications from candidates without formal qualifications who have been in appropriate employment for at least two years. A reference letter from employer's) must accompany such applications

English Requirement:

The student must have passed a UKBA approved English language test, and has achieved at least CEFR level B1 in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Click here for a new list of approved English language tests.

Advanced Diploma

Corporate Strategy and Planning
Managing in Organizations
International Business Case Study

Students must pass two of the following options:

Strategic Marketing Management
Strategic Human Resource Management for Business Organization
Corporate Finance
Managing the Information Resource
  • The Advanced Diploma papers are set and marked to the level of the second year of a UK Business Studies degree program.
  • Following passes in the requisite five subjects above, the successful student will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Business Administration.
  • No exemption is granted from any subject in the Advanced Diploma Examination.
Entry Requirements for Advanced Diploma
Applicants must have obtained one of the following:
  • ABE Diploma
  • A UK Honors Degree or Overseas equivalent
  • Other recognized qualifications of approved Overseas Institutes of Higher Education
